Frank and his cake

The other day Simon was playing while Charlotte
was at camp and I came into the playroom and found this.
Simon told me it was Franks birthday. He had put him in
his booster seat and prepared a piece of cake for him.

There is a close up of Frank. For those of you
who don't know, Frank is Simon's blanket.

Do I have a moustache?

So a few days ago Davey and I were driving and I said
"sometimes I wonder if I have a little bit of a moustache"
and then I asked him "have you ever noticed it?" to which
he replied "yes, but I am used to it"
oh my goodness, do I look like a 12 year old prepubescent boy?
what is the deal. If you say you have never questioned if you have
one hair too many on your upper lip you are lying to yourself.

So as I was searching for a photo I came across this blog.....hahahahaha

Smoking second hand

So we lived in Durham, NC for 8 years. Durham is "tobacco country" and the birthplace of all things tobacco. You really almost develop a pride about it. We never had any neighbors that smoked the whole time we lived in Durham. We moved to SLC and wouldn't you know it but our next door neighbors smoke. I went to their front door one day and saw 4 plastic coke bottles full of cigarettes. We have a swamp cooler for our house(no a/c) and so the outside air is sucked into our house. As a result we get all of the smells every single time they smoke.

As I was searching for smoking images I came across this.
It was so disturbing I had to post it. When I go to bed
at night feeling guilty about something I did or did not
do for my kids I can at least feel glad that they don't smoke
at age 3.

Henry is 6 months

I took Henry to his 6 month check up and he is now my smallest baby. He was 50% for his head and his weight(17 lbs) and his length is only 67%. I have never had a child under 90% for length so he is my shrimp. He is not sitting up and still does not have teeth which is also different from my other kids. He is still super cheerful and good so we love him.

Annual 4th of July parade on Evergreen Ave.
We have never been to this but David grew up
doing it every year. The kids loved it.

Simon and Grandpa sporting their UNC hats.

My sisters girls came to visit our new house. Simon
and Charlotte loved playing with the Darbys.

Hanging out on the deck.

American Idol

So Charlotte and I went with my parents a couple nights ago to American Idol live. The crowd was going CRAZY for David A. You could barely hear him sing at times. At one point he was crying. Our seats were so amazing, we were so close. It was so loud, not sure if it is because I am so old or concerts just happen to be louder now. Charlotte fell asleep on my lap at the end because it lasted for 3 hours. We had so much fun though. David(my hubby) declared David A the next Donny Osmond. I realized how old my parents are getting, they were so stressed about getting into their seats.

Wake up daddy

last night as I put Charlotte to bed I whispered that she needed to wake up daddy in the morning and not me. She comes into our room and starts shaking me and whispered in my ear "mommy, I am going to wake up daddy now" She tried in vain to wake him up and so I still was the one to get up. Charlotte wanted toast and Simon wanted pancakes. I never make pancakes so I thought I would be a little adventurous. I made Charlotte her piece of toast to tide her over and while I was mixing up the pancakes I heard a scream and found that one of my dogs got her toast. I finally finished the pancakes and was helping the kids out when I turn around and found my dog Mary had eaten one of my pancakes. The day was not going well. The next 8 hours or so I just did as usual and unpacked my house(an ongoing horrendous task that will never end). We had told the kids all day that we would go to the fountains at the mall after Simon's nap. There is a mall here that is all outdoor and has a street running down the middle and at one end is the ultimate in "white trash" fun. Parents park themselves on the sides and watch as their kids run around in the sprouting water. A couple nights ago I went to this same mall with a friend and we saw a man and his wife walking. He was about 4 feet tall with curly short hair on the top and long hair flowing in the back. He had on a t-shirt with the sleeves ripped off and it had 2 pigs on the front with the words "makin bacon". You can guess what the pigs were doing. These are the types of people you can expect to see around this part of town. Anway.....after I did some shopping, played in the fountains and ate dinner we were ready to go home. We were walking along and a man drives past us in his 1950's blue convertible that was about 500 feet long. He had JT blasting and his arm on the seat next to him. There was a really old grandma sporting the traditional grandma clothing, including the scarf over her hair and tyed under her chin. wait....it wasn't a real grandma though...it was a dummy. Oh my goodness, I was at a loss for words...and then.....he turned the corner slowly and the muffler on his car FELL OFF. Simon turned to me and said "that was scary"

Miller Lyte?

So I was at my parents house reading their People magazine yesterday and I came across an article about Matthew McConaughey's brother. This post is really for my sister Linda who frequently posts about MC. His brothers name is Rooster. He has a son named "Miller Lyte". When asked why he says

"Miller Lite is about all I drink. My wife said I could name our child if it was a boy. She was scared I'd name her Jenny for Genuine Draft if it was a girl"

His brother works in pipe sales in the oil business. He said MC was a better lifeguard than pipe guy. He then said he could never take off his shirt because
"I don't have a six pack, I got me a pony keg!"

All I can say is "Wow"
