Things I will miss

This past week has been pretty crazy. I have been packing and trying to fit in some of my favorite things around here. I have made sure that I go to the flea market every Saturday this past month. I was hoping to make it to the amazing zoo here, but didn't get a chance. I went to the Liberty antiques festival with my mom yesterday and it was great. I also made sure I went to dinner with some friends. I have such great friends here, I am going to miss all of them SO much. It is so hard to absorb all that is going on. Davey and I have lived here almost a whole decade. North Carolina is always going to hold the best memories for us. It is exciting to move onto the next phase of our life, especially when Dave will be home more. Here are a few other things we did this week.

The museum of life and science. We love this
museum, it has everything you could imagine

Sarah Duke Gardens. I met a couple of my
friends here for a picnic.

Pickin strawberries. I will miss this so much
The berries are always so yummy and we make
our jam and of course some ice cream.

I will also miss all of the trees. I just took
these photos of our backyard. I know in Utah
we will probably have like 2 trees in our yard.

One thing I will not miss.......Mosquitos. I already
have about 5 bites on my legs. We have a creek/standing
water behind those woods in our yard and it is a breeding
ground for mosquitos. I get bites even when walking
to my mailbox.

What do you learn at church?

So my kids have had to watch a lot of tv while I have been packing. One show they have watched a bunch is Alvin and the chipmunks. Tonight I was reading to the kids and they asked what we were going to do tomorrow. I responded "we are going to church" then Charlotte said "what do we learn about at church?" and I said "I don't know, what do you learn about?" to which she responded "hippies" I think that Alvin will need to be put away for awhile because they talk about how their parents were hippies and live on a commune.

Packing nightmares

I have spent around 5 hours a day packing for 6 days now. I would not recommend it to anybody, especially with little kids. Charlotte and Simon are loving unpacking the boxes after they are packed and destroying the downstairs while I am upstairs. They are both exhausted whenever I ask them to clean up. Yesterday I was upstairs packing and Charlotte and Simon were playing on the deck. I looked out the window and saw Simon putting about 6 inches of the blade of a box cutter into his mouth. Miraculously he did not cut his mouth. I then brought them up to have a bath. I went into my room for a minute and came back to them using the tub as a slide so my entire bathroom was drenched, I suggested they could finish their bath on the floor since it had more water than the tub. I put more water into the tub and again went into my room. I came back to find them both standing up and peeing into the tub. I filled up a tub a third time because I still hadn't washed their hair. I let them know that most likely the water would be cold to which they started crying about. After their bath I went to get Charlotte her pj's and came back to find they wanted to empty out all of the toys from the toy chest. All I could say was "Are you kidding me?"

Airplane problems

according to Simon there are a few problems. First of all he told me this morning that he is going to miss his underwear when we move. Then he thought about it for a few seconds and said "I need underwear on the plane" then Charlotte said "do they have a potty on the airplane?" to which Simon responded "no" The last few days Simon has said that he is scared of the airplane ride. When we ask him why he says that there is going to be a scary garbage man named "Caramel" who is going to be coloring all over the seats on the plane.

Henry is 3 months old

Henry is getting so big. Cannot
believe he is already 3 months old.

Mr. grumpy

Yesterday we were walking around outside at the mall. Simon was walking next to me and I just rubbed the back of his neck and he got really upset. He started yelling at me to not touch him, etc. Dave picked him up and gave him a little talk about how he needs to talk to his mother. He put Simon down and then Simon started yelling "Daddy grabbed me, he hurt my nip(nipple)" He kept saying this, well, yelling this. Dave and I kind of start laughing and Dave says "I am sorry I hurt your nips" Simon then yells "you didn't hurt my nips, just my one nip. You only hurt my one nip" We are then both laughing pretty hard and Simon then yells at me "don't say haha anymore"

No pride left

So, I need to realize that I have no pride left. I am always dirty, scatter brained and embarrassed by my childrens comments. Yesterday I was at the grocery store and Simon says "What is that smell?" I then smell a bad smell and say " I don't know" He then says loudly "It smells like poo." Which I silently agreed to. Then he says "mommy, you farted." Everyone is trying to act like they don't hear a thing. Today at the toy store Simon is jumping around screaming repetitively "I need to poo" I then spend the next 20 minutes trying to get him out of the toy store to the bathroom. I get home from the store and realize that I didn't do up my nursing bra from about 3 hours earlier...perfect.

Shiver me timbers

Aside from Koosh balls Simon has 2 other extreme fears. Skulls, which he refers to as "jaw bones" and bugs. Per Sheila's order to "desensitize" I have gone a little crazy with the skulls. Simon has sunglasses with flaming skulls on the sides. He has shoes with the tatooish looking skull. So, when we went into Party City to decide on a party I had to convince Simon on doing a pirate party. He was a little stressed at first, but then I described the cake and how it would have a ton of candy on it and he was sold. We had a ton of kids show up and everyone seemed to have a lot of fun.

Simon turns 3

Dave got home from Las Vegas on Monday night and he met us at Chuck E. Cheese's for a wonderful dinner. Simon really has no idea how old he is. A few weeks ago he thought he was 6. Today he told everyone that he was 4. I also don't think he really gets that it was his birthday alone. He told Charlotte and I happy birthday a bunch of times.

the kids were fighting over this
blue cupcake. Charlotte ate all
of the frosting and none of the cake.

Charlotte went on this ride at
least 15 times.

Of course "Jewel" had to have a
turn on the ride, twice.

Happy baby Henry

Henry is for sure our most cheerful baby.
He is always cooing and smiling at everything.

The history of the koosh

Most of you are probably aware that Simon has serious issues with koosh balls. Some of the new ones are softer rubber and light up. It used to be that I couldn't walk into Target without him screaming bloody murder because he knew they had the big ones there. The PC term for them is now puffer ball or hairy ball. Last fall it was so bad that I had to call friends before I went to their houses to remove anything that had any resemblance to a koosh in texture. At this same time Simon was obsessed with clocks. Not your usual toy for a 2 year old. We worried he had Sensory processing disorder. After a month of observations I got him approved to get occupational therapy from "Sheila" Simon has loved going to see her, and she has helped him out so much. Today was our last day with her so I took a few photos. She not only helped him with his koosh fears but the last couple weeks they even play catch with his gigantic puffer ball.

Here they are playing catch. She even taught
him to hug the ball.

White Trash kid

so.....have we lived in the south too long? Henry had a blow out at church and I never think to bring an extra outfit. This is how he came home from church.
